I met with Zoe's head teacher in her Preschool classroom, Suzy, for her bi-annual progress report. Here is what it said:
Cognitive Development
Zoe participates actively during circle time and will answer questions when asked. She will try to write her name when asked and also shares descriptions about the pictures she draws. She really likes to talk about "Zachy Baby."
Social Development
Zoe works both by herself and with other children. She sometimes has to be reminded to use her words, but usually will seek a teacher for help. She is really easy-going and very actively participates in many classroom activities, especially when painting is involved.
Emotional Development
Zoe really expresses her emotions and sometimes is tearful when conflicts arise. With some guidance, she really is capable of telling others why she is unhappy. Her laugh is contagious and when she smiles you can't help but smile back!
Physical Development
Zoe is really open to participating in all kinds of play. She rides bikes, jumps on the mats and uses blocks both on her own and with others. She loves to dig outside and make "food" for others to try.
General Comments
Zoe is a very energetic child and she is extremely gentle, especially with Peanut the hamster. She really tries to use her words and does a great job in doing so. We're so glad she is in our classroom!
Suzy also told me that Zoe has an extremely active imagination and spends much of her day in the art center of the classroom, though she has interest in all the activities. She said many, many times that Zoe makes her and the other teacher, Amy, laugh all the time.
